Today in the Tour of Slovenia, Slovenian big talent Tadej Pogacar let us see again why he’s such a big talent. The 19-year old rider from Ljubljana Gusto Xurum, who was fifth in last years Tour of Slovenia, ended fourth in the stage and holds the eight position in the general classification.

Tadej Pogacar is coached by Marko Polanc, former rider and father of current UAE Team Emirates rider Jan Polanc. Ljubljana Gusto Xurum is a Slovenian amateur team, current status is a continental team,  which has provided different World Tour rider. Jan Polanc, Luka Pibernik and Luka Mezgec have all had their training at the Slovenian amateur team.

Primoz Roglic takes over the lead in the general classification from Rigoberto Uran, who had yesterday his second victory this year. It looks like, with an individual time trial to go, that Primoz Roglic is on track to win the Tour of Slovenia for his second time.

In the Baby Giro, it was for the second year in a row that a Russian rider took the victory. Aleksandr Vlasov surpasses current Team Sky rider Pavel Sivakov as the winner of the U23 version of the Giro.

It reminds us of the golden era for the Soviet Union in the 80’s in the Baby Giro. In that decennium, the Soviets won the Baby Giro seven times. Piotr Ugrumov and Dmitri Konychev were among those winners and became successful pro rider.
